  • Trellix

Trellix is a global company redefining the future of cybersecurity. The company’s open and native extended detection and response (XDR) platform helps organizations confronted by today’s most advanced threats gain confidence in the protection and resilience of their operations. Trellix’s security experts, along with an extensive partner ecosystem, accelerate technology innovation through machine learning and automation to empower over 40,000 business and government customers.

Trellix needed to migrate 400TBs and 300+ million files of propriety threat repository storage to AWS as part of an effort to move forward quickly with our data center migration efforts. It was not an easy task, as on-premises systems were out of date, and bandwidth availability was limited. We evaluated multiple solutions and selected AWS Snowball Edge devices for their ease of use and fast turnaround from the AWS team. We used five Snowball devices to migrate all data in under two-months. We were impressed by the ease of use and AWS’ programmatic approach to meeting timelines. In the end, we avoided costly on premises software, hardware, and network upgrade costs. The Trellix Advanced Research Center exceeded the data center exit timeline and are back to running our business.

  • Joyn

Germany’s first free streaming video service, Joyn GmbH is a ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery joint venture combining live TV with on-demand content and exclusive programming. Joyn chose AWS Snowball Edge to move their media archive from expensive on-premises data centers to Amazon S3.

Case Study: Joyn migrates 3.4PB to Amazon S3 with AWS Snowball Edge

Blog: Joyn readies exclusive content for audiences with Amazon S3 Intelligent-Tiering and Glacier

Joyn is a cloud-first media service built on AWS, so we knew that moving our archive using AWS Snowball Edge would be fast, simple and secure, but we’ve also been impressed by how cost-effective it was. Now that all of our content is easily accessible in the cloud, we can quickly transcode and deliver content to audiences that they can’t find on any other streaming service.

  • Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Using Amazon S3 and S3 Glacier Deep Archive provided the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the confidence that its digital media would be preserved and easily accessible at an affordable price. However, the Rock Hall still needed to recover the data on LTO tapes. Working with AWS, the project team ingested the files into S3 Glacier Deep Archive via six AWS Snowball Edge Storage Optimized devices. Using AWS Snowball Edge helped to address common challenges with large-scale data transfers, including high network costs, long transfer times, and security concerns.
